A Gallery of contemporary fine art paintings that deal with the subjects of psychology, alchemy, and color.
Prismatic Paintings
The Prismatic Paintings embody principles of symmetry, proportion, balance, strength of center, rhythm and simplicity. I consider them to be thorough studies which have acquainted me with the materials and techniques that define my aesthetic. Prismatic Paintings were the primary product of my studio practice from 2005-2016.
Jewels
The Jewel series of paintings are closely related to the Prismatic Paintings, but allow for a somewhat less stringent approach to color and composition. The composition of colors and ways in which they overlap are inspired by actual jewels (which are, after all, prisms), rather than a purely ideal mathematic consideration of color ratios.
Grid Drawings
Grid Drawings are a series of drawings that address the mechanics of composition through formulaic engagement with a cartesian plane as picture plane. These drawings frequently include written notation which documents the reasoning behind specific decisions with regards to color and line progression. These drawings were central to my artistic endeavors from 2003-2007.
